RE: Should we leave our boys in Afghanistan or finish what we started?

I totally agree. We should either let the military run this "war" or pull our troops out altogether. After the murder of 5 of our lads the other day by people we are trying to help, why should our lads bother? The Russians trained the Afghan army, with what result? Hundreds of Russian troops killed. They just want us out of Afghanistan, so why dont we give them what they want? The proviso being that all the "asylum seekers" should go back to where they came from. There was an interview last night on the news of a taliban, saying that they will and are sending home our troops in body bags and we should get out of their country. OK! lets get out, send the illegals back home, not just the illegals from Afghanista, ALL of them. The bleeding hearts would have a field day.  Uh oh! Blood pressure creeping up again!

What makes it so heartbreaking is seeing that interview with Oz Schmid's wife...have you ever seen anything so soul destroying, and just how brave that lass was?....For her sake, and those like her, we need to ensure that we dont have too many more like that, preferably none, therefore, leave it to the military, they will sort it out, maybe not to the bleeding hearts brigade liking, but who gives toss?......

I see there has been a further episode in America with one of their own[bollocks]officers..They say they are keeping him alive so as they can try and find out why he did it.Now do they need the likes of me to tell them??/He got himself dressed up,went to pray, collected his loaded weapons+extra ammunition then went to work.I would bet that, that man would have worn a suicide belt if it had been available,I would also bet that the American counter-terrorist agency knew he was being--would groomed--be the right word, and if they did,why was he not somehow removed,,or once again were they worried in case they upset some of the community if they arrested him.Once again try telling the families of the dead and injured that they did not have enough evidence.I think its about time a bit more hard-line enforcement was brought into play,,and that goes for Britain as well,,these are not little kids throwing snowballs--this is for real, and if it puts some of the communities noses out of joint, well thats the way it will have to be....Larry....PS who will be next,,,plenty of chancers in the british forces!!!!!!

Are you sure he wasn't the patient??
And, when they have tried him and convicted him I bet they still won't top him. As was said above, they might upset some muslim or whatever!!
In the UK he would probably get a house and a job provided!!

This was too good not to share, if you don't fill up after reading this or a least get a lump in your throat

Daddy's Poem

Her hair was up in a pony tail,
Her favourite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school,
And she couldn't wait to go.

But her mother tried to tell her,
That she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
If she went to school alone.

But she was not afraid;
She knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates
Of why he wasn't there today.

But still her mother worried,
For her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again,
She tried to keep her daughter home.

But the little girl went to school
Eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees
A dad who never calls.

There were daddies along the back wall,
For everyone to meet.
Children squirming impatiently,
Anxious in their seats

One by one the teacher called
A student from the class.
To introduce their daddy,
As seconds slowly passed.

At last the teacher called her name,
The children turned to stare.
Each of them was searching for,
A man who wasn't there.

'Where's her daddy then?'
She heard a boy call out.
'She probably doesn't have one,'
Another student dared to shout.

And from somewhere near the back,
She heard a daddy say,
'Looks like another deadbeat dad,
Too busy to waste his day.'

The words did not offend her,
As she smiled up at her Mum.
And looked back at her teacher,
Who told her to go on.

And with hands behind her back,
She slowly began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child,
Came words that were unique.

'My Daddy couldn't be here,
Because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
Since this is such a special day.

And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy,
And how much he loves me so.

He loved to tell me stories
He taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses,
And taught me to fly a kite.

We used to share fruit sundaes,
And ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him.
I'm not standing here alone.

'Cause my daddy's always with me,
Even though we are apart
I know because he told me,
Forever be in my heart'
With that, her little hand reached up,
And lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
Beneath her favourite dress.

And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads,
Her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
Who was wise beyond her years.

For she stood up for the love
Of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her,
Doing what was right.

And when she dropped her hand back down,
Staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
But its message clear and loud.

'I love my daddy very much,
he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,
But heaven's just too far.

You see he was a British soldier
Who died earlier this year,
When a roadside bomb hit his convoy
And taught Britons to fear.

But sometimes when I close my eyes,
it's like he never went away.'
And then she closed her eyes,
And saw him there that day.

And to her mothers amazement,
She witnessed with surprise.
A room full of daddies and children,
All starting to close their eyes.

Who knows what they saw before them,
Who knows what they felt inside.
Perhaps for merely a second,
They saw him at her side.

'I know you're with me Daddy,'
To the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
Of those once filled with doubt.

Not one in that room could explain it,
For each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her,
Was a fragrant long-stemmed rose.

And a child was blessed, if only for a moment,
By the love of her shining star.
And given the gift of believing,
That heaven is never too far.

Send this to the people you'll never forget and
Remember to send it also to the person that sent
It to you. It's a short message to let them know
That you'll never forget them.

If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're
in a hurry and that you've forgotten your
friends.

Take the time...to live and love.
Until eternity. God bless!

Lest we forget

I think I saw more poppys this year then I've ever seen before. Watched them bringing the lads back at Wootton Basset. There will be many more in the future I fear.

I dont know if i'm fortunate or not, but i've managed to get a trip with the lead Traffic Car on Monday, for a repatriation from Wootton Bassett to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, I think honoured, would be a better word, but i'm really grateful that in my own small way, I can be part of this hugely sad event, as apart from standing at the roadside as the cortege passes by, cant think of anything else useful that i can do..

Good one Rod, I can't think of a more fitting tribute than to be part of it.
